Eating Disorder Discussions: Insight from Advocates

Teagan Hart from The Body Project

Teagan Hart is a senior at UC Santa Barbara and a facilitator for The Body Project, which is promoted through the National Eating Disorders Association. The Body Project is a body acceptance program developed by researchers at Stanford University. It aims to help individuals challenge societal beauty standards and develop a more positive body image. Participants attend and engage in structured group sessions with facilitators, where they discuss and critique current societal standards, pressures, and media influences. It is often implemented in schools, colleges, and community settings as a prevention program and support group. It emphasizes fostering an inclusive and accepting environment where individuals feel empowered about their bodies and encourages participants to challenge harmful diet culture messages.
